Pay It Forward!

Sorry that I have been gone, but I have been sick since Monday. But here is my motivation for a post...
I've won a prize from Pay It Forward on Hannah's Blog! I don't know what it is yet, because it is a surprise.

Well, since I've won something, the rules say that it's my turn to give!

Here's the deal:

The first three people to comment on this post, telling me what they think of my blog (anything I should change?...etc.), will win a homemade gift from me. I have to get that gift to you within 365 days. Lord willing, I'll get better soon, then I'll be able to get to you within a month...hopefully... :)

Then, those three people will hold a "Pay It Forward" giveaway and send another three people homemade gifts.
It sounds like fun to me! Let the race begin!

Picnik!!

So, I was going through blogs and clicking on people that follow my followers, and people who follow them, and people who follow them, so I don't exactly know who I got this from, but it is amazing.  Picnik!!  It is a very cool photo editing site.  You can use photos from your Picasa Web Albumns, your computer, a website, and many others, even facebook.  It is pretty simple to use, and works great for me so far.   Go ahead and try it out!

Spring?

Precisely one week ago it was gorgeous.  Almost 60 degrees and breezy.  We had quite a bit of snow before the thaw so, naturally, it started to melt.  I'm posting some pictures so you can see exactly how much melted.  We get a "river" every year, but this one was enormous.  We live in a sort of land bowl.  All the melting snow and/or rain that is in the surrounding fields runs down here.  I don't know how many thousand gallons of water ran through the back of our yard, but it was quite a lot.  I was hoping the nice weather would hold out, but alas, we again have three inches of snow upon the ground.  I guess snow is pretty too. :)  Like Remy said in Ratatouille, "The only predictable about life is its unpredictability".  Even if it were eighty degrees outside though, I could not enjoy it.  I have had the warts on the bottom of my feet treated again, and if you recall my post a few months back about it, you'll know its not fun.  Oh! I almost forgot,
Happy Valentines Day!
Oops, wrong font. :)
Happy Valentine's Day!
Kinda looks like rapids...

These pictures really don't say it all, you should have heard it.

Loving God

Teresa recently posted on loving God.  It is really good, you should go and read it.  After reading her post it got me thinking.  Not only are we supposed to love God with all our heart, but with all our mind.

And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
Matthew 22:37

Well, what does that mean?  My dad is taking some classes at MBI on the side, and one of the books he had to read was titled just that,  "Love God with all your Mind" by J. P. Moreland.  He says it is a very good book, so I'd recommend it.  Consequently, we talked about it at devotions for a couple of days.

How can you love God with all your mind?  What do you use your mind for?  Primarily, I use mine to think and do school.  :) We can love God with our mind by honoring him with our thoughts and our school.  Do we do our school for Jesus?  Or do we do it because our moms told us to, we want to look smart etc. ?  What about your thoughts?  What are you always thinking about?  (I'm not just talking to you here, I am just as guilty) Do your thoughts glorify God?  If not, take them captive...

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ...
2 Corinthians 10:5

Concerning hair...

I don't know about you all, but I have what I consider long hair.  Sometimes it gets hard to deal with, but I found this website that shows a whole lot of different styles.  Its very handy, especially if your mom is starting to get tired of the pony-tail look. :)  You just have to love Keira Knightley's hair in the above photo!  I don't know how they did it.  The picture is from "The Duchess" I believe.  Has anyone seen the movie?  I adore the costumes (not the necklines:] ) I have seen in pictures, but I also heard the movie wasn't very good.  HELP!  Is it?  Can I see it?  How do you all do your hair?
Current Mood:
Giggly, and headachy, but there isn't a picture for that!

Super Bowl

I was struck this super bowl by all of the awful stuff that is on TV.  I didn't really watch it, I was reading "To kill a mockingbird" for a school assignment.  Even so, it was awful!  My grandparents were here, and my grandpa is unsaved,(please, please, please pray for him, I have done so almost everyday for as long as I can remember...) so naturally, he wouldn't understand why we don't ever watch the halftime show.  Since he was here, we watched it.  Have you ever had that feeling that you wish you could cover your eyes, and your ears and sing Blessed Assurance at the top of your lungs?!!!  (the singing thing runs in the family :-] )  It was awful.  Not to mention the commercials.  If I thought it was bad, what did my brothers think?  I can't even imagine.  Now I know why we only watch movies, the occasional news broadcast, the super bowl, and the Olympics!  I also know why our TV is, what, 10-or-so years old, and when you walk into our living room you can't see it because its behind doors.  Because it is not a big part of our life, and SHOULDN'T be.  I'm not judging and saying you sin if you watch TV, I'm just giving my 2 cents, and my thoughts on what TV has become, not what it used to be.  Thanks for reading me out!

My Movie Characters

As Aslan, you are brave, noble and have an astute awareness of morality. You may be quick to anger at times, but you have a heart of gold, and are respected greatly among your peers.

You are most like Galadriel. There's just something about
you that people like, a sort of aura. You're very kind to
people, and you like to help others succeed. You're not as
candid as most people would like. You don't have to share
your deepest darkest secrets, but be more honest about
things! You're more mature than most people your age, so
don't worry

I am Elinor Dashwood!

You are Elinor Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are practical, circumspect, and discreet. Though you are tremendously sensible and allow your head to rule, you have a deep, emotional side that few people often see.

Take the Quiz here!

You Scored as Elinor Dashwood

As Marianne's older sister, Elinor lives at the other end of the emotional spectrum. She rarely reveals her intense feelings and is more concerned with being honest and loyal than having what she deserves. Even though her intentions are pure, she sets herself up for loss by constantly placing other people before her own needs. Overall, Elinor is gentle and rational but is just as capable of radical emotions (despite her withholding them) as her sister.

Sorry for all the confusion around the site, but it is under construction.  I have added three columns!  If you would like to do so, go to this site.

Also, as Lauren Ann suggested, I have adjusted my margins so it doesn't look squished.

Advice

Has anyone ever read "The last of the Mohicans" ?  I got it from the library, and am wondering wether it is a good book or not before I start it.
Thanks!
