False Coin, True Coin

Another one of the books I have read this summer is False Coin, True Coin, By Lois Hoadley Dick.  False Coin, True Coin is a fictitious book about a girl named Cissy Nidd.  Mr. Nidd is a jail keeper, but on the side, he and his family make false coin to pass in London.  In the jail there is a Christian man named John Bunyan, he is there for going against the church of England.  Mr. Nidd is determined that Cissy will marry a certain man.  Cissy doesn't want to, she is already in love with a highwayman friend of her brothers, Gill.  Ordinarily she could just say no, but this man knows about their passing false coin, if she refuses, he will tell and the whole family will get in trouble.  Life gets really rough,  and just when Cissy is about to end it and jump in river, she hears John Bunyan singing in his cell and thinks over what he said about Jesus.  Instead of suicide she runs away to London.  While in London she lives through the plague and the great fire of London.  Eventually she accepts Jesus Christ as her savior, but with a warrant out for her arrest will that change things?
It is a really exciting book, I read the whole thing in one sitting on a car trip!

Costume Corner

It's finally here! I finished the dress! It was rather hard, and we had to modify a few things, but it looks great. I would have been lost if it weren't for my mom, she helped a lot. Here is a picture.

More Reading

The last two books I read were by Christopher Paolini.  The first book is Eragon. it is the first book in the Inheritance Trilogy.  Christopher wrote it when he was only fifteen.  It is about a boy named Eragon who finds a dragon egg and becomes a dragon rider.  Being only a farm boy he has a lot to learn, but in the end he defeats a Shade, and in doing so helps the Varden win their battle with Galbatorix's Urgals.
His second book Is called Eldest.  In this book Eragon goes to the Elves secret capital of Ellesmera in Du Weldenvarden to complete his dragon training.  While there he finds that his elf friend Arya is actually the princess and heir to the elvish throne.  Oromis, an old crippled rider who teaches Eragon teaches him a lot about magic.  But will it be enough to defeat the  old rebellious rider Galbatorix,  and free the empire of his nasty reign?

The third book in the Trilogy is called Brisngr.  I comes out on September 20, 2008.

Clean Up

Meet my brothers. Drumroll please!!
Than-the-Man and Houston!
Now, let me explain. We had a main water pipe come apart in the downstairs bathroom. There was water everywhere. Now that pile of wood is a vanity, without the sink. It is uncommonly hideous. Since this vanity is soaking wet, and will rot anyway, and we already have a replacement, they decided to take a sledge hammer to it. As you can see, their faces betray their euphoria at flattening this repulsive hunk of wood. Atta boys!

My very own Cookbook!

I am going to start my very own noteworthy cookbook.  I found this neat site that will bind your cookbook for you and make it look very professional, here is the site.  Every week I will post a sensational new recipe.  For this week I will post "5 Minute Artisan Bread".  This flavorful recipe is courtesy of my Grandma Marilyn.
5 Minute Artisan Bread
Ingredients
Makes 4 Round loaves

1 ½ Tablespoon yeast

1 ½ Tablespoon Kosher salt

3 cups luke warm water

6 ½  cups unbleached flour

Directions

1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients, DO NOT KNEAD.  Dough will be loose.

2. Let rise.

3. Put in a plastic bag and chill in refrigerator for 1 day to 2 weeks.

4. When needed, take out a ¼ of the dough.  Knead, and maneuver  in to a round loaf, with rounded top.  Let rise.

5. Preheat oven to 450°.  Put 1 cup of water in a broiler pan on the bottom rack.  Put pizza stone on top rack.

6. Sprinkle pizza stone with cornmeal, and top of loaf with flour.

7. Bake bread for 30 minutes.

8. Let cool.  Slice and serve with butter or an oil, salt, and pepper mixture.

*Bread may be made the same day, but it must be chilled for at least a little bit.  The longer it chills, the better it turns out.

Bon Appetite!

Yes! I'm safe!

From what?  I don't know.  However, I calmly, with great endurance, fortitude, and unwavering tact was able to listen to My Mom sing 'Ol MacDonald' all the way home.  This was somewhat more agreeable to my sense of fine acoustics due to the fact that I had my handy iPod Nano to aid in drowning out the commotion.

That being said, I did enjoy myself greatly on this trip, as I will most splendidly detail for you now.

Wednesday.>>>  Same old.  Same old.  In the car most of the day w/friends.
Wednesday. >>> Had a WONDERFUL time with my best friend.  We dropped off my friend in Green Bay and arrived in Gwinn, Michigan at 1:00 am.

Thursday.>>> Went to "The Bears Den", my Grandpa's camp in the woods, and spent some quality time with family. Hey what about those great ATV rides? 30+mph!

Friday.>>>Happy Fourth!  Went to my Aunt and Uncles with my grandparents and great grandparents.  Then headed to marquette for fireworks.  Towards the end of the fireworks it is my view that three fireworks blew up on the dock where they were being fired from.  I think this because afterwards all the rest of the fireworks went off at once.  The noise was thunderous as it echoed off the waterfront buildings.  What a way to end the day!

Saturday.>>>Started bright and early with pancakes. (well, not that early, I slept in till almost 10:00!)  Then went to the "Happy 100th Birthday Gwinn" Parade.  Then, it's back in the car.

Sunday.>>>Wore my Indian dress to the chapel in Green Bay.  (I will take a photo and show it in a later post)  Then after lunch we headed for home.  We arrived around 9:20 pm.  And thus concluded our trip to the UP.
